In the early hours of July 2, 2020, the life of 30-year-old Demetrius Sullivan was cut short in a fatal shooting in Washington, D.C. A Black male from Suitland, Maryland, Sullivan was discovered inside a vehicle in the 1100 block of 46th Place, Southeast, just after midnight. Officers from the Sixth District had responded to the area after reports of gunshots.
Upon their arrival, they found Sullivan suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services transported him to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead. The incident was one of four fatal shootings investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department in a short period.
The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch is actively investigating the case and has offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Sullivan's death. To date, no arrests have been made, and authorities have not released any detailed descriptions of potential suspects. The case remains unsolved, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
