In the early morning hours of November 1, 2005, the quiet of 32 Galveston Place SW in Washington, D.C., was broken by the sound of gunfire. Kenneth A. Browne, an African-American man who lived in the area, was found at the scene around 1:00 a.m., suffering from severe gunshot wounds. He was critically injured and received emergency medical care, but his injuries proved fatal; on November 18, 2005, he was pronounced dead as a result of the wounds he suffered during the shooting.
