On the evening of July 19, 2019, police were called to conduct a welfare check at an apartment in the 1100 block of Queen Street, Northeast. Inside, they made a grim discovery.
Ahkii and his 57-year-old father, Hugh Washington, were found shot to death. The news of the double homicide sent shockwaves through their community, leaving friends, family, and Ahkii's teammates in a state of grief and disbelief.
