On Monday, September 2, 2024, at approximately 1:19 a.m., the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) received calls reporting the sound of gunshots in the 2800 block of 7th Street, Northeast, in Washington, D.C. Upon arrival, officers found a man with gunshot wounds, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was identified as 46-year-old Townsend Reginald Sowell, a resident of Northeast.
