In the early morning hours of September 2, 2024, the sounds of gunshots shattered the predawn quiet in the 2800 block of 7th Street, Northeast, in Washington, D.C. When police officers arrived at the scene at approximately 1:19 a.m., they discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds. The man, identified as 46-year-old Townsend Reginald Sowell, a male resident of Northeast, was pronounced dead at the scene.
