In the winter of 2023, a young man's life was cut short in West Philadelphia following a dispute. Emilio Alvarado, a 19-year-old male, was found by police on the 500 block of North Simpson Street with gunshot wounds to his chest and right leg on Saturday, January 28th. Officers were initially called to the area for a report of a person with a gun.
Alvarado was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he was later pronounced dead. The incident was investigated as a homicide, and authorities began searching for the person responsible for the fatal shooting.
A few days later, an arrest was made in connection with Alvarado's death. On Monday, January 30th, police took 49-year-old Jabbar Shank into custody. Shank has since been charged with voluntary manslaughter, aggravated assault, and simple assault. Investigators have indicated that the shooting stemmed from an argument between the two men.
