On the evening of October 10, 2016, a tragic shooting in Philadelphia's Mayfair neighborhood claimed the life of 17-year-old Quantico Brunson. The Black male teen, known affectionately as 'Reno,' was with a group of friends on the 3100 block of Stirling Street when the violence erupted. The incident unfolded at approximately 9:05 p.m. near the corner of Stirling and Hawthorne streets.
According to reports, a white sedan approached the area, and an unidentified man dressed in black exited
the vehicle. Shortly after, multiple gunshots were fired, striking Brunson and two other individuals, a 16-year-old and a 21-year-old. After the shooting, the man in black was seen running back to the white sedan, which then fled the scene. Brunson was transported to Jefferson Frankford Hospital in a private vehicle, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead later that night. The other two victims were also hospitalized and survived.
Philadelphia police investigating the homicide recovered a revolver and a single shoe from the crime scene, which they believe may belong to the shooter. Despite the presence of surveillance video that captured the suspect vehicle and the unidentified man, no arrests have been made in the case. The murder of Quantico Brunson remains unsolved, and authorities continue to seek information from the public. A significant reward has been offered for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this fatal shooting.
