In the Bronx, a 26-year-old man named Mario Guerrero was fatally shot in the head in the East Tremont neighborhood. The incident occurred in broad daylight on the afternoon of Thursday, September 5, 2024, just after 5 p.m. outside his residence at 1898 Belmont Avenue.
According to police, officers from the 48th Precinct responded to a 911 call about a person shot. Upon their arrival, they discovered Guerrero with a gunshot wound to his head.
Emergency medical services were called to the scene and pronounced him dead. His family described him as a quiet man who worked in construction and largely kept to himself.
The suspect reportedly fled the scene, heading northbound on Belmont Avenue before authorities could arrive. Law enforcement officials have described the suspected gunman as a male with a dark complexion, standing about 5 feet 10 inches tall with braided hair. He was last seen dressed in all black and carrying a black book bag.
