On a Saturday afternoon in the Bronx, on June 12, 2021, a burst of gunfire shattered the city's rhythm, leaving a 42-year-old male, Vaughn Flanders, with multiple gunshot wounds. The incident occurred in the vicinity of 1074 Prospect Avenue. When police arrived at approximately 2:37 PM, they discovered Flanders, conscious but unresponsive. Alongside him, a 28-year-old woman had also been struck, suffering three graze wounds.
Both victims were rushed by emergency medical services to
Lincoln Hospital. Despite the efforts of medical staff, Vaughn Flanders was pronounced deceased. The female victim was treated for her injuries and subsequently released. The case was investigated by the 41st Precinct.
In the wake of the shooting, an investigation led to the arrest of 29-year-old Spencer Bridge of Manhattan. He was taken into custody and faced charges of murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a firearm in connection with the death of Vaughn Flanders.
