On the evening of March 14, 1996, a dedicated 33-year-old male New York City Police Officer, Kevin Gillespie, was on patrol in the Bronx with his partner in an unmarked car. Their tour took a fateful turn when they began following a BMW that had been reported carjacked earlier that day by four armed men.
