In the early hours of May 24, 2024, a tragic shooting occurred outside an apartment building at 2290 Davidson Avenue in the University Heights section of the Bronx. The incident resulted in the deaths of 36-year-old Justin "Blaze" Lawless and 44-year-old Claretha Daniels, both residents of the building. A 40-year-old man was also injured, sustaining a gunshot wound to his right arm; he was transported to Saint Barnabas Hospital and listed in stable condition.
