A 41-year-old man, Raheem Blake, was fatally shot in the Bronx on the evening of Sunday, July 21, 2024. The incident occurred just before 6 p.m. in the vicinity of 3125 Park Avenue in the Melrose section of the borough. Police responded to a 911 call reporting a man had been shot.
Upon their arrival, officers found Blake with a gunshot wound to his chest. Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene and transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The area around the shooting was cordoned off as police began their investigation. At the scene, a Nissan Rogue with apparent bullet holes was found, and several shell casings were recovered as evidence.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the New York Police Department confirmed that no arrests had been made. The investigation into the death of Raheem Blake remains ongoing, and as of late July 2024, no suspects had been publicly identified or taken into custody.
