A quiet street in the Charlotte Gardens section of the Bronx became the scene of a fatal shooting on the evening of August 30, 2021. Luis Giovanni Colon, a 26-year-old man from Allentown, Pennsylvania, was shot multiple times in the torso in front of an apartment building at 1693 Vyse Avenue around 9:15 p.m.
Officers from the 42nd Precinct responded to a 911 call and discovered the wounded Colon. Emergency medical personnel rushed him to St.
Barnabas Hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
According to police, the suspected shooter, described as a Black man, approached Colon on foot and fired multiple shots before escaping in a red Toyota SUV that fled the scene. The motive for the shooting has not been publicly disclosed by investigators.
As of the initial reports, no arrests had been made in connection with the homicide. The investigation into the death of Luis Giovanni Colon remains ongoing as authorities continue to seek information from the public to help identify and apprehend the individual responsible for the deadly shooting.
