In the early hours of September 29, 2024, Alvin Ortiz, 33, was fatally shot while seated in a parked car outside 2693 Morris Avenue in the Bronx. The incident occurred around 1:07 a.m., when Ortiz and a 36-year-old male companion were approached by assailants who fired multiple shots into their vehicle. Ortiz sustained gunshot wounds to his left arm and chest, while his companion was struck in the left arm and wrist.
