On September 16, 2024, the body of 63-year-old Jesse Gilmore from Oklahoma was discovered in a ditch along Interstate 44 near Joplin, Missouri. Investigators determined that Gilmore had been fatally shot in the head earlier that morning while seated in his red Chevrolet Cobalt at the Road Ranger gas station located at 2101 S. Prigmore Ave.
