In the early evening of March 5, 2023, the life of 22-year-old Davonte Straus was tragically cut short in Richmond, Virginia. The young man was discovered unresponsive in the drive-thru lane of a McDonald's located in the Southside Plaza on Hull Street. He had sustained a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.
