In the early hours of March 18, 2020, the life of 34-year-old Javon A. Tuck, a Black / African American male from Henrico, Virginia, was tragically cut short. Police were called to the 1900 block of Mechanicsville Turnpike in Richmond just after 1:00 a.m. for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered Tuck inside his vehicle, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Despite the efforts of first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators determined that an unknown assailant had approached Tuck’s vehicle on foot and opened fire, striking him multiple times. After the shooting, the vehicle moved forward and collided with a nearby structure. The gunman was seen on surveillance footage fleeing the area, heading in the direction of Whitcomb Court. The Richmond Police Department released this footage to the public in the hopes that someone could identify the person responsible for this senseless act of violence. The suspect was described as wearing a white t-shirt and light-colored trousers.
In the days following the shooting, authorities appealed to the community for any information that could lead to an arrest. Detectives have continued their investigation into the homicide of Javon A. Tuck, but to date, no arrests have been announced, and no suspect has been publicly identified. The case remains an open and unsolved homicide, leaving a family and a community still searching for answers and justice for a life taken too soon.
