On October 20, 2024, at approximately 10 p.m., Norfolk police responded to reports of a shooting in the 1600 block of Madison Avenue, near Booker T. Washington High School. Upon arrival, officers discovered 40-year-old Norfolk resident James Edward Lindsey III suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
