On a Monday morning in Norfolk, Virginia, a dispute that began inside a convenience store tragically escalated, ending the life of 38-year-old Michael Barnes. The altercation spilled out of the Bay Food Market on Granby Street, where Barnes sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 8:15 a.m. on November 14, 2016. Paramedics transported Barnes to a hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The incident stemmed from a disagreement between Barnes and another man that started within the market.
At the scene, police arrested 29-year-old Leonard Bullock of Norfolk. He was subsequently charged with second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Bullock was taken into custody and held at the Norfolk City Jail without bond.
