On a winter evening in Aiken, South Carolina, the life of Alan Jizzle Black Jr., a 31-year-old Black male, was cut short by a burst of gunfire. The fatal encounter unfolded on February 8, 2023, in the parking lot of a Burger King on York Street. Another man was also struck by the gunfire and sustained injuries.

Emergency services were dispatched to the scene around 8:40 p.m. where they found the two victims. Both men were rushed to Aiken Regional Medical Centers for treatment. Despite the ...
