On the evening of April 17, 2021, a 24-year-old male named Kaleb Tremaine Greene was fatally shot at a residence on Jarrett Drive in Bassett, Virginia. The Martinsville-Henry County Emergency 911 Center received a call about the shooting at approximately 8:42 pm. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found the suspect, Isaiah Jeremiah Dillard, outside the home and took him into custody without incident.
Upon entering the residence, law enforcement discovered Greene on the floor with
at least one gunshot wound to his chest. Despite the response from the Henry County Department of Public Safety, Kaleb Tremaine Greene was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation into the incident revealed that Greene, who was visiting the home, had been involved in an argument with Dillard. The altercation escalated, leading Dillard to produce a firearm and shoot Greene. It was determined that the two men were acquainted with each other.
Following the investigation, Isaiah Jeremiah Dillard, who was 21 years old at the time and resided on the same street, was charged with first-degree murder and the use of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was subsequently held in the Henry County Jail without bond. Greene was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the Western District of Virginia for an autopsy.
