In the early evening of December 3, 2021, a tragedy unfolded in the parking lot of a McDonald's on York Street in Aiken, South Carolina, that cut short the life of 16-year-old Thaj Nance-Parker. A student at Aiken High School, Nance-Parker also worked at the fast-food restaurant. Around 7 p.m., the young man was shot in the chest.
