In the early afternoon of March 14, 2024, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet of a North Las Vegas neighborhood. When police arrived at the 1900 block of Solana Del Norte Way, near Clayton Street and Washburn Road, they found 28-year-old Lewis Rand suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics rushed the young Caucasian male to University Medical Center, but his injuries proved to be too severe.
Rand was pronounced dead at the hospital, leaving family and friends to grapple with the sudden and violent loss.
For nearly two weeks, the case remained without a suspect, as North Las Vegas police detectives worked to piece together the events that led to Rand's death. Vidana-Garcia was booked into the Clark County Detention Center and faces a slate of serious charges, including open murder, robbery, and burglary. At the time of his arrest for Rand's murder, Vidana-Garcia was also facing separate charges for possession of a stolen vehicle and attempted grand larceny.
