Nick Davi, a 46-year-old White/Caucasian male, was a husband, father, and beloved pastor at Grace Point Church in North Las Vegas, Nevada. Friends and congregants described him as a kind and peaceful man who had been on the church staff since 2014, overseeing its daily operations. He and his wife, Sarah, had two children, a 15-year-old daughter and a 12-year-old son.
The Davi family had been involved in a dispute with their next-door neighbor, Joe Junio, that began after they reported
her to their homeowner’s association for violations involving chickens and dogs. In the weeks leading up to the shooting, Junio’s behavior reportedly grew increasingly hostile. The Davi family alleged she threw rocks and dog feces into their yard, attempted to flood their home, and made death threats. On one occasion, she allegedly ran a finger across her throat in a cutting motion and told the family they were “next.” The family felt so terrorized by the escalating harassment that they temporarily moved out of their condominium to stay with a friend.
On the afternoon of December 29, 2023, the Davi family returned to their home in the Courts at Aliante gated community to gather more of their belongings. As they were outside, Junio drove up and a verbal argument began. One of the Davi children, sitting in the family’s car, started recording the confrontation with a cell phone. Nick Davi could be heard asking, “Why don’t you leave us alone? We’ve had enough,” and “What’s your problem with us?” Junio then allegedly got out of her car and opened fire.
Nick Davi was struck in the abdomen, and his wife Sarah was also shot. The entire incident unfolded in front of their two children. Both Nick and Sarah were transported to University Medical Center, where Nick died from his injuries. Sarah survived the attack.
North Las Vegas police arrested Joe Junio, then 36, at the scene. She was charged with open murder with a deadly weapon, attempted murder, battery, and child abuse. In 2024, a grand jury indicted Junio on the charges. She has pleaded not guilty. In addition to the criminal case, Sarah Davi filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Junio. As of May 2024, the criminal case against Joe Junio was scheduled for trial.
