In the late afternoon of March 6, 2024, tragedy struck in a North Las Vegas neighborhood when 19-year-old Marcos Kakogui, a male, was fatally shot. The incident occurred near the intersection of Wilkinson Way and Dillon Avenue. Following the shooting, Kakogui was transported to North Vista Hospital before being transferred to University Medical Center, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
A second individual, a 16-year-old boy, was also wounded in the shooting.
He was taken to University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries and survived. The North Las Vegas Police Department launched an investigation into the double shooting, but details regarding a motive or potential suspects have not been publicly released.
In the days following the shooting, the Clark County coroner's office officially identified Marcos Kakogui as the deceased. As of early December 2024, no arrests have been announced in connection with the homicide, and the investigation remains ongoing.
