In a tragic turn of events on June 24, 2024, a shooting at a North Las Vegas apartment complex near Commerce Street and Craig Road claimed the life of 21-year-old Christopher Munoz, a Black male. Munoz was a student at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, pursuing a degree in Kinesiology and was active in the ROTC program. Described as a gentle soul and a wonderful older brother, his life was cut short in an act of violence that also took the lives of his mother and grandmother.
The
incident unfolded following a domestic dispute in a neighboring apartment. The perpetrator, identified as 47-year-old Eric Adams, became violent and began shooting. Christopher Munoz, his 40-year-old mother, Amy Munoz, and his 59-year-old grandmother, Damiana Anna Munoz, were among the victims. In total, five individuals were fatally shot in the spree, and Christopher's 13-year-old sister was critically injured.
After the shooting, Eric Adams fled the scene, sparking a manhunt by law enforcement. He was located the following morning, and upon being confronted by police, he died by suicide. The motive for the shooting appears to have stemmed from the initial domestic dispute, with the Munoz family and other neighbors becoming tragic victims caught in the subsequent rampage. The community has since come together to mourn the loss of the victims and to support the surviving family members.
