On the evening of April 22, 2024, a burst of violence in a Dollar General parking lot on Leavenworth Road in Kansas City, Kansas, cut short the life of 22-year-old Gerald Jones II. The young Black/African American man was discovered by police with a gunshot wound around 7:30 p.m. Despite the efforts of emergency personnel who responded to the scene, Jones was pronounced dead in the parking lot of the discount store.
