On the night of July 17, 2022, in Kansas City, Kansas, Printara PJ Jackson, a 45-year-old man, was fatally shot in what has been described as a double shooting. The incident occurred shortly before 11:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of North Fifth Street, within the Gateway Plaza neighborhood. When first responders arrived at the scene, they discovered two adult men outside who had sustained gunshot wounds.
Printara Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene from his injuries.
The second man found at the location was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The Kansas City, Kansas Police Department's Major Case Unit immediately began an investigation into the shooting, which marked the city's 23rd homicide of the year.
In the days following the shooting, law enforcement authorities made an arrest in connection with the case. On Tuesday, July 26, 2022, police took 27-year-old Tenesha Marie Horton into custody. She was subsequently charged in Wyandotte County District Court with second-degree murder for the death of Printara Jackson and attempted second-degree murder for the shooting of the second victim. Horton was being held in the Wyandotte County jail on a $250,000 bond. The investigation into the double shooting remained ongoing even after the arrest.
