On the evening of August 16, 2025, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace in the 1600 block of Washington Boulevard in Kansas City, Kansas, tragically cutting short the life of 23-year-old Victor Loza of Bonner Springs. Responding to the call shortly after 7 p.m., police officers discovered a grim scene with three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.
One man, later identified as Tyler Wheeler, 26, of Kansas City, Kansas, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Victor Loza, along with a female victim, was rushed to a local hospital with critical injuries. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Loza succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced deceased. The third victim, a woman, fortunately survived the attack with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspects responsible for the deadly shooting had fled the area before law enforcement arrived, prompting an immediate and intensive investigation into the double homicide.
In the days following the shooting, the investigation progressed swiftly. With the assistance of the U.S. Marshals, authorities located and apprehended a suspect in Kansas City, Missouri. The individual taken into custody was identified as 19-year-old Jimi L. St. Clair. He was subsequently held in the Jackson County Jail, awaiting extradition to Wyandotte County to face charges. Prosecutors have since charged St. Clair with two counts of second-degree murder for the deaths of Victor Loza and Tyler Wheeler, and one count of attempted second-degree murder in connection with the female victim who was wounded in the shooting.
