In the early morning hours of February 17, 2024, the life of 42-year-old Peter Long, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short in what became the first homicide of the year in Kansas City, Kansas. Just before 3 a.m., officers from the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department were dispatched to the Southridge Apartments located in the 1100 block of County Line Road after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they made a grim discovery inside one of the apartments.
