In the early hours of May 2, 2024, a burst of gunfire shattered the pre-dawn quiet in a Kansas City, Kansas neighborhood, leaving a somber scene for arriving officers. Javier Juventino Benitez Pizarro, a 46-year-old Hispanic male, was found shot outside a residence in the 1700 block of Cleveland Avenue. Tragically, he was pronounced deceased at the scene, becoming the city's eighth homicide victim of the year.
