On a late summer evening in Kansas City, Kansas, the life of Steven L. Sykes, a 36-year-old Black man, was tragically cut short. On September 3, 2016, officers were called to a disturbance in the 3100 block of North 21st Street. There, they discovered Sykes suffering from gunshot wounds. He was a resident of Kansas City, Kansas.
