On a summer afternoon in Kansas City, Kansas, the life of 16-year-old JaMarcus Lane Jr., a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short. On June 23, 2023, police responded to a call of a shooting at approximately 2:40 p.m. in the 3100 block of West Barker Circle. Upon arrival, officers discovered the young man inside a residence, having sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
