In the crisp early evening of March 7, 2023, the life of 19-year-old Walker Lewis Whatley III, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short by gunfire in Indianapolis, Indiana. The fatal incident unfolded just outside the former Thomas Carr Howe High School, located in the city's Irvington neighborhood. While a basketball game was underway inside the building, the scene outside turned violent around 8:20 p.m., when police were dispatched following a report of a person shot.
