In the summer of 2023, the life of 19-year-old Brian Arnold-Causey of Snellville, Georgia, was tragically cut short in a fatal shooting. On the night of June 15th, events unfolded at Lenora Park that would end in his death. Following the shooting, Arnold-Causey was driven by unknown individuals to a nearby Gwinnett County Fire Station. They alerted fire personnel that he had been shot and then quickly departed, leaving him in their care.
Despite being rushed to a hospital for medical attention, Brian Arnold-Causey ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The Gwinnett County Police Department immediately launched an investigation into the homicide, with detectives working to piece together the circumstances that led to the shooting.
The investigation into Brian Arnold-Causey's death led authorities to identify two suspects. The first, 18-year-old Anwar Brenard Singleton of Loganville, was taken into custody on October 28, 2023. He was booked into the Gwinnett County Jail on a host of serious charges, including malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of certain felonies. As the investigation progressed, Singleton would face additional legal trouble in the form of eight gang-related charges.
The second suspect, 19-year-old Prince James of Snellville, remained at large for a period following the identification of the alleged perpetrators. However, his time as a fugitive came to an end on March 18, 2024, when he was apprehended in DeKalb County through the collaborative efforts of the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Unit and the US Marshals Office. James was subsequently booked into the Gwinnett County Jail, facing charges that mirrored those of his co-defendant, including malice murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault. In addition, he was charged with theft by deception, possession of a firearm during the commission of certain felonies, and two gang-related charges. Both suspects are being held without bond as they await legal proceedings.
