In the early hours of a Tuesday morning in Snellville, Georgia, a domestic disturbance call to the Gwinnett County Police Department unraveled a tragic story of violence that left three people dead and a community in shock. Corey Jones, a 52-year-old male, was fatally shot in his own home on January 30, 2024. The incident, which unfolded at The Views apartment complex on Country Walk, also claimed the life of his 56-year-old wife, Dana Farmer.
Police identified the gunman as 27-year-old
Frank Wilburn Jr. of Loganville, who died at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in what was determined to be a double murder-suicide. The violence erupted when Wilburn went to the apartment where another woman, 29-year-old Rosella Jones, was located. It is believed that Wilburn and Rosella Jones were in a relationship and were scheduled to appear in court for a hearing concerning a restraining order later that same day.
During the course of the domestic dispute, Wilburn opened fire, killing Corey Jones and Dana Farmer, and injuring Rosella Jones. Miraculously, two other individuals in the apartment were unharmed: Corey Jones's mother and a 2-month-old infant. Rosella Jones was transported to a local hospital with gunshot wounds but survived the attack.
The investigation by the Gwinnett County Police Department pointed to the incident being an isolated, domestic-related event. Authorities believe Wilburn was the sole perpetrator in the deaths of Corey Jones and Dana Farmer before he took his own life. The motive appeared to be linked to the soured relationship and pending legal proceedings between Wilburn and Rosella Jones.
