In the early evening of Friday, September 27, 2024, gunshots shattered the air in the 1300 block of South Capitol Street, Southwest in Washington, D.C. Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department responded to the scene at approximately 6:44 p.m. where they discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds. The injured man was identified as 28-year-old Marc Butler Jr. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment but ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
