In the late afternoon of Saturday, October 26, 2024, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace in the 1200 block of Alabama Avenue, Southeast, in Washington, D.C. When officers from the Seventh District of the Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene around 3:37 p.m., they found a young Black man, 24-year-old Joevontae Ramsey, unconscious and not breathing, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
