On a cold Friday night in Washington, D.C., tragedy struck for 30-year-old Ajaye Smith, a resident of Southeast D.C. On December 9, 2022, at approximately 9:01 p.m., the sounds of gunfire shattered the evening calm in the 3400 block of Stanton Road, Southeast.
