In the late afternoon of a Sunday in Washington, D.C., the sound of gunshots shattered the peace in the 2000 block of Bruce Place, Southeast. When officers from the Seventh District arrived around 4:49 p.m. on November 14, 2021, they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were rushed to area hospitals, but for one, the efforts to save his life were in vain. Fifty-two-year-old David Williams, a Black male from Southeast, D.C., succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
