On a Wednesday afternoon in the spring of 2019, tragedy struck in Southeast Washington, D.C., forever altering the lives of those connected to Barry Holmes, a 57-year-old man from Temple Hills, Maryland. The day was April 17th when, at approximately 4:33 pm, the sound of gunfire shattered the normalcy of the 5100 block of Southern Avenue, Southeast. When police officers from the Sixth District arrived at the scene, they discovered Mr. Holmes suffering from a gunshot wound.
