On a Thanksgiving afternoon in Washington, D.C., a holiday gathering was shattered by a burst of violence that claimed the life of 20-year-old Chason Haynie. On November 23, 2000, Haynie, a resident of Capitol Heights, Maryland, was a passenger in a Cadillac with three other young men. As they were stopped at a red light at the intersection of 58th Street NE and Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue, their car was ambushed in a brazen attack.
