On February 8, 2022, 16-year-old DeShawn Francis was found with gunshot wounds in a vehicle on the unit block of Chesapeake Street, SE, Washington, DC. Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) responded to the scene at approximately 8:09 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting. Despite being found alive, DeShawn succumbed to his injuries three days later, on February 11, 2022.
