In the evening hours of October 15, 2015, a burst of gunfire shattered the night in the 3200 block of 15th Place in Southeast Washington, D.C. When officers from the Metropolitan Police Department's Seventh District arrived at the scene around 7:35 p.m., they found a young man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was identified as 23-year-old Tavon Maurice Patterson, an African-American male from Southeast, D.C.
