In the early morning hours of Monday, June 19, 2023, the sounds of gunshots shattered the pre-dawn stillness in the 600 block of I Street, Northwest, in Washington, D.C. Responding to the alert at approximately 5:10 a.m., officers from the Metro Transit Police Department and the Metropolitan Police Department canvassed the area and discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
