On April 4, 2024, a tragic incident occurred at the Brookland-Catholic University Metro station in Washington, D.C., resulting in the death of 14-year-old Avion Evans. Avion, an eighth grader at Ida B. Wells Middle School, was on his way to an after-school program when he stopped to talk with a friend at the Metro station.
