On the evening of August 16, 2023, the sounds of gunfire shattered the late summer calm in the Columbia Heights neighborhood of Washington, D.C., leaving a community shaken and a family grieving. When officers from the Metropolitan Police Department's Third District arrived at the 3000 block of 14th Street, Northwest, they discovered a grim scene.
