It was there, at approximately 5:20 a.m., that 35-year-old John Williams III, a Black male, was found suffering from gunshot wounds. The Metropolitan Police Department responded to the scene, but despite their efforts, Williams was pronounced dead.
The investigation into his death was immediately launched, with homicide detectives canvassing the area and seeking any
information that could lead to a breakthrough in the case. The authorities reached out to the public for assistance, offering a substantial reward of up to $25,000 for any information that would lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this violent act. Detectives Anthony Greene and Dwight Jones were assigned to the case, urging anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward.
