In the early morning hours of June 22, 2022, a sense of normalcy was shattered in the 2800 block of Alabama Avenue, SE, in Washington, D.C. It was there, at approximately 1:11 a.m., that 36-year-old Vernon Vedo Harrison, a Black male, was standing at a bus stop when his life was tragically cut short. He was shot and killed in what authorities believe was an attempted robbery. The Metropolitan Police Department responded to the scene to find Harrison suffering from gunshot wounds.
