On the evening of Labor Day, September 4, 2023, the life of 18-year-old Daysean Snowden was tragically cut short in Washington, D.C. At approximately 6:48 p.m., police responded to a report of a shooting in the 3800 block of 9th Street, Southeast. Upon their arrival, they discovered a grim scene. Snowden, a male resident of Northeast, D.C., was found inside a car, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
Emergency medical services were called to the location, but Snowden
showed no signs of life and was pronounced dead at the scene. The vehicle in which he was found was later discovered to have been reported stolen during an armed carjacking that had occurred a few days earlier, on September 1, in neighboring Prince George's County. The connection, if any, between the carjacking and Snowden's death has not been publicly detailed by investigators.
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch are actively investigating the case. As of now, authorities have not released any information about a potential suspect or suspects, and the motive behind the shooting remains unclear. The department is urging the public for assistance and is offering a substantial reward of up to $25,000 for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this homicide. The investigation continues as family and friends mourn the loss of the young man.
