In the early morning hours of November 7, 2018, the life of 37-year-old Eugene Johnson was tragically cut short in his Washington, D.C. home. At approximately 4:02 AM, police responded to a shooting at his residence in the unit block of Galveston Place, Southwest, in the Bellevue neighborhood. Inside, they found Mr. Johnson suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second man was also discovered at the location with gunshot wounds.
He was transported to a local hospital with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries and was treated for them. The authorities have not publicly identified this second victim.
The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch is handling the ongoing investigation into Eugene Johnson's death. In the immediate aftermath of the incident, police had not established a motive for the shooting and did not release any description of potential suspects. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with this homicide.
In an effort to gather more information, the police have reached out to the public for assistance. A reward of up to $25,000 has been offered for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Eugene Johnson. The case remains an open and unsolved homicide.
